Our Hearts to Yours: Listener Feedback
Peace, joy, happiness & whether we’ve been so focused on bad guys in religious circles that we might be only hostile to institutional religion. After a brief discussion of a student question, we focus (starting min 40) on a poignant email exchange with Tim, who was kind enough to let us reply to his emails verbally, so we could give it the attention it deserves. His main question: aren't we taking the heart out of folks by our incessant negativity about church abusiveness? Do we only let voices on the show who agree with our wokeness and rejection of traditionalism?
Note: we do understand why many of you fine people will be unhappy that we are critical of some ideas and institutions and people and willing to consider dismantling or renouncing bad examples of both. We are also sorry for the pain or unease that might come with that. Nonetheless, it is precisely the fear of facing the evil and manipulative aspects of our own communities that often stops us from healing moves. Therefore, while we recognize that there are good and bad in all communities, the point of this show is indeed to keep an eye on the religious wolves. When they tend to be scarce and people are generally able to identify their tactics culturally, we will be very glad to stick with working through positive spiritual teachings and uplifting dialog. In the mean time, we will be relentless (at least when we are not chilling out in the forest, inside St. George the truck camper :)
